Deleener is an Eco Fusion Hybrid: a gravel wetland working alongside our Eco Fusion system, wrapped in a single piece of raw cast concrete. It is a ten metre swim, two and a half metres wide, with the wetland sitting as part of the same structure rather than as an add-on beside it.

One shell, cast in place

The pool and the wetland at Delena are not two separate structures joined together. They are one monolithic shell, shuttered and cast as a single pour. We build the formwork out of wooden boards, shaping every wall and every step by hand before any concrete goes in, then cast the whole thing in concrete carrying a waterproofing additive right through the mix.

That last point matters. The waterproofing is not a coating sitting on the surface waiting to be scratched, punctured or lifted. It is part of the concrete itself. There is no liner to seam, no membrane for the next trade on site to put a trowel through, and no plaster layer that will need stripping and redoing in ten years. Leak risk on a shell like this is about as low as it gets, and the wetland structure is every bit as strong and sound as the swimming zone it feeds.

A finish that needs nothing done to it

Because the concrete is the finish, Delena never needs plastering and never needs resurfacing. What you see is the board, the formwork and the pour, left exactly as it came out.

It also solves something that quietly bothers a lot of pool owners: the waterline. On a conventional pool you get a change of material where the water meets the edge, so a tile band or a mosaic strip has to be introduced to hide the join. Here there is no join to hide. One cementitious texture runs from the deck, over the coping, down the wall and under the water without interruption. The pool reads as part of the ground it sits in rather than as an object dropped into it.

Built properly, a shell like this will still be doing its job in decades.
